This classic was restored in the 1990’s to a show level finish. It has been driven only 1400 miles since the restoration. The owner, prior to myself, owned it since 1972. When he passed, i was able to acquire the car from his estate. It is a numbers matching car, with the venerable 3. 4 liter inline six cylinder engine that was fully rebuilt during the restoration. It starts on the first turn of the key and idles perfectly. She drives very well and shifts well – having a new clutch and a rebuilt transmission. It features chrome wire wheels – including the spare. The interior is in restored condition aside from vandalism done at a car show. Note in the pictures that the door panels (only) were sliced – both sides. Also, i have new (wing) side view mirrors that will be installed prior to the acquisition and new chrome bonnet trim (just arrived). There was a small ding on the old one. The right rear turn signal has a dent – but, i ordered a new one – and will replace it. Other than that, she shows very nicely. I’ve had a vast collection of cars and have been fond of xk’s for many years and have owned many. This coupe is – pretty. I was tempted to put white wall tires on her – but have not yet done so. All of the chrome is in great shape, the grill is straight and very nice. The bumpers look great also, as the previous owner rechromed everything. The odometer was reset at time of restoration. I do not know the original miles, but post restoration, it doesn’t really matter. The tires look new with no dry rotting at all. The wire wheels are in great shape, but would benefit from a detail. The interior leather is free of wear and tear and looks new. The trunk compartment (boot) was restored also – and the engine compartment, although dusty now, was restored. The head is a correct light green color. I am searching for a set of windshield wiper as the car mysteriously does not have them. Frankly, until i took the pictures, i forgot. They are powerful and torquey and a pleasure to row through the gears. She is ready for the new owner as i must reluctantly sell her to fund my technology company. (startups aren’t easy). No warranty is implied or expressed. Inspections are welcome by appt. Deposits are non refundable and i report non paying bidders. Happy to hold the car for a time after the auction closes – free. But she must be paid for in 7 or less days. Also can assist with shipping if needed. I am not a dealer – but once was and know how to best get a car transported. All funds must be in us dollars only. She only has 24,000 original miles. She is burgundy in color with a biscuit interior. She is equipped with an automatic transmission, which i prefer. Let me also say that this isn’t my first xke – far from it. However, i like the xke v-12 for the following reasons; · more reliable· affordable· very smooth to drive· built on the 2+2 chassis, so she has more interior room. I’m 6’3” and i need the room. Again, manually shifting this car would be a challenge.· she still retains the elegant and iconic xke styling i also like unrestored cars. They are only original once. Therefore, i can drive them and not fret the small and occasional blemish. Which isn’t to say that this car isn’t very nice – but she sports mostly original paint (accident free but signs of older paint for sure). My goal, when taking a car to a show, is to enter the “survivor” class. I like to see the original craftsmanship – not a highly restored interpretation. I took a delahaye to pebble beach, in 2012, she too was all original. I also own a 1952 nash healey – again, all original. I used to own a restoration shop – ironically enough, and did restore cars, however, primarily to sell. As mentioned, this xke is all original with only 24,000 miles. She is stored in my showroom. I took my daughter with me – and she commented on how smooth the car was. In fact, everyone that drives in this car says the same. There really is no smoother engine than the v12. I also like the 1972 because as it is devoid of the large bumper overrides (5 mph bumpers) that were mandated by uncle sam from 1974 on. They were a bit chunky. The 1972 avoided them. My xke also has the optional grill override – which protects the grill when the bonnet is open. I think this is a blue chip investment. She will continue to appreciate, no doubt. She has good power too. A pleasure on the highway and around town. I’ve had no issues with overheating or poor starting. She does not smoke either and the transmission makes no whining sounds and shifts perfectly (smoothly too). There are no odd noises coming from the drivetrain. The brakes work very well (but they too are from 1972), and the gauges all appear to be operating correctly. The bevy of toggle switches takes an engineering degree to figure out – and she does have air conditioning. The radio is aftermarket with additional speakers in the rear deck area. Prior to my ownership, she was locally owned and purchased new by the family that sold it to me. The father bought it, then passed it to his son, then to me. The car has had wonderful and careful ownership – and is coveted by me. I must part with something in my collection to continue the funding of my technology business. I have placed a best offer feature on the car so that a serious future collector might get a great buy. Inspections are welcome by appointment only. Please ask all questions before bidding.
